I wake up in some

other-world,

my body awkward

and ungraceful in

this unfamiliar medium.

I mimic others,

try to cover,

look as if I might

belong here too.

I swallow longings,

snuff the memory’s

every pull and tug…

only to dream

again each night

the deep way back.
