Deb's Page
I began writing poetry about 15 years ago and have participated
in a variety of writing workshops and readings. I have worked collaboratively
with visual artists, musicians and dancers.
My poetry
has been published in numerous literary journals and
anthologies. (Eg: North Coast Review, Rag Mag, Loonfeather,
Dust & Fire, the Vision, ArtWord Quarterly, The
Wolf Head Quarterly, Minnesota Poetry Calendar, Kalliope,
Minnesota Monthly, Rosebud, Nimrod, Many Mountains Moving,
California Quarterly, Wavelength, Cottonwood, The Cancer
Poetry Project).
I have used poetry extensively in
my work as a Hospice/Hospital Chaplain and have conducted
workshops on the interfacing of Poetry and Spirituality.
My husband, Joel, who is a fine-art screenprinter, and
I have exhibited our collaborative images through- out
the region.
My first chapbook, Redirection of the Heart, was published
by New Song Press.
I also won the 2001 chapbook competition for the journal
Ruah. A third small collection of poems entitled ‘the
gods of wild things’ was recently released by
Poetry Harbor. I also won the 2003 Diane Glancey Poetry
Award for the anthology ‘Dust & Fire.’
